Soldier Fund

Government support of at – risk youth ceases at age 18.
The transition from high-school pupil to IDF soldier is intense, extreme and challenging for all Israeli teens.  Families play an essential role in easing the transition and providing their soldiers with the loving support that they so need. This support is required by young adults throughout their service.  Soldiers depend on their family to provide a warm home environment when on leave, special treats and ongoing emotional support. No one should have to go through this alone.

But what happens to soldiers who grew up without a loving biological family?
Where do they find support and relief?

For Bet Elazraki graduates who lack a functional biologic family – we are their family.  The Soldiers Fund accompanies our graduates during the transition period and throughout their military service.

Bet Elazraki venues of support for our soldiers:

  • Pocket money
  • Financial support of studies in prestigious "mechina” preparatory programs and higher education for soldiers in the Atudah program
  • Emotional and professional support

Leaving the nest

A critical milestone in the life of our children is high school graduation when they take their first steps outside the nurturing environment of the Children´s Home where all of their needs were fulfilled in a comprehensive manner, 24/7.  Service in the IDF is graduates´ first station following their protected life at the Home.  For the first time since coming to the Children´s Home, graduates are challenged to fend for themselves alone in a rigid military environment.  Their need for emotional and financial support is greater than ever before.  This point, when youth turns 18, is the time at which government agencies cease their support – a time when the need is enormous.

Soldiers from normative families enjoy the support of their home at this essential stage.  For our graduates who lack a functional biologic family – we are their family.  The Supporting our Soldiers program accompanies our graduates during the transition period and throughout their military service.

Thanks to our support, our graduates excel in their venues of service.  Many serve in prestigious combat units.  They live the ideals that they internalized growing up at the Home – volunteerism, the love of the State of Israel and its People.
